Through my lens, I seek the quiet strength that endures — in light, in nature, and in the human spirit.
I was born on the shores of Lake Superior and raised among the desert stones of New Mexico and the forests of Oregon.
These landscapes — water, desert, stone, and sky — became my first teachers of resilience and wonder.
My journey began in darkness. Years of abuse, captivity and silence once tried to erase my voice.
But art became my rebellion — photography, my way of remembering freedom.
“Rose Waterhause” was the name I created in secret — woven from my middle name, from a father I never knew, and from the healing element of water. Later came “Phoenix Rose,” a symbol of fire, transformation, and rising from the ashes.
Together, they hold my story: gentleness and strength, water and flame, healing and rebirth.
My work explores the meeting place of stillness and transformation —where light breaks through shadow, where water and fire coexist.
Whether in wild landscapes, a single fallen leaf, or the stillness of dawn, I seek the language of renewal written into the natural world.
I photograph not only what is seen, but what is felt — the breath between loss and becoming, the quiet pulse of resilience.
My hope is that each image reminds us: beauty persists, wonder returns, and we rise.
